Artists in the Adobes (2014)

The Old Monterey Foundation will present a plein air art event the weekend of October 4 & 5, 2014.
Plein air is a French expression which means “in the open air” and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors, which is also called peinture sur le motif (“painting on the ground”) in French. It can also be used to describe other activities where a person partakes in an outdoor environment.
Local artists will be seen painting in and around historic gardens and adobe buildings on Saturday. On Sunday artists will display and sell their work near Custom House Plaza.  Judges awards will be announced.
Friday evening is a reception at the House of Four Winds, an historic adobe on Calle Principal owned and operated by the Monterey Civic Club. Artists will pick up their packets and register for the event.
This will coincide with the Monterey History Fest 2014.
Monterey History Fest has grown into a festival that offers a variety of programs for both residents and visitors to experience Monterey’s unique cultural heritage and historic resources. History Fest has developed a schedule designed to bring Monterey’s past to life during this community-wide event.
