On Saturday, January 10th, the Old Monterey Foundation hosted an afternoon of entertainment and celebration of Monterey’s artistic history at Casa Serrano – all in the style of 1915.
We were here to toast the publication of Artists’ Honeymoon: Rowena Meeks Abdy and Harry Bennett Abdy at Work and Play in Monterey and Beyond, 1910-1920, written & designed by Julianne Burton-Carvajal and containing 180 century-old photographs which were selected from the discovery of 570 negatives, courtesy of Pat Hathway’s California Views.
Along with the book launch, this event also featured dance, period costumes, music, accompanied by tea, coffee, sweets, and champagne. Complimentary copies of Artists’ Honeymoon were awarded to the best-dressed man and best-dressed woman costumed in the style of 1915. Check out the photos!
